ST. LOUIS – The UIndy women's basketball team (7-17, 4-10 GLVC) kicked off a four-game road swing versus a hot Missouri-St. Louis squad Thursday night, as the host Tritons (15-5, 9-4) won their eighth straight in a 79-63 final. The Greyhound offense yielded a pair of 20-point scorers, as freshman
Taylor Drury poured in a career-high 25 points while senior
Martha Burse added 23.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With an injury to starting guard
Alexa Bailey shortening an already shallow UIndy bench, the Hounds hung with UMSL through three quarters. UIndy battled to within five points late in the third period, but the Tritons finished the quarter on a 10-2 run and later pushed the margin as high as 25 before securing the win.
Â
Drury racked up 13 points in the second quarter alone, knocking down three triples to help all but erase an early 14-point UMSL advantage. Later, UIndy once again chipped away at a double-digit deficit to make it 49-44 Tritons with four minutes left in the third before running out of steam.
Â
UMSL's post Jordan Fletch proved a tall order for Hounds, as the 6-3 senior finished with a game-high 28 points on 11-for-14 shooting to go with seven boards. Junior guard Arielle hit five 3-pointers on the way to 23 points.
