ROME, Ga. - The No. 20 University of Indianapolis Greyhounds' men's lacrosse team knocked off the Shorter Hawks 23-7 in their first conference match of the season on Saturday.
The Hounds ripped off nine unanswered goals to open the match, cruising to an 11-2 halftime lead. After scoring the first four goals of the second half, the Hounds continued to dominate the game, taking home a 23-7 victory in the first game of their spring break roadtrip.
The Hounds put up an outstanding 59 shots in the game to the Hawks' 16, including 42 on target. The Hounds won 40 ground balls to the Hawks' 13 and won 26 of 34 faceoffs.
Parker Kump put on career performance, pacing the Greyhounds' attack with eight goals on 15 shots. Nine other Greyhounds also found the net, led by
Shawn Kimble's hat trick and two goals apiece from
Sam Horning,
Tyler Johnston,
Jake Zickel and
Jimmy Smith.
The 20th-ranked Hounds will continue their road tip on Wednesday when they take on Mount Olive in Mount Olive, N.C.
