CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The No. 15 UIndy softball team (33-11) ventured out of conference play Tuesday, earning a pair of in-region road wins at Cedarville (23-13), downing the host Lady Jackets by scores of 5-2 and 8-3.

Starting pitcher
Lauren Honkomp (13-5) went the distance in the opener, helping snap a seven-game win streak by the Jackets. The Richmond, Ind., native walked a season-high six but allowed just three hits – all singles – and two unearned runs while striking out four.

Facing reigning G-MAC Pitcher of the Week Morgan Arbogast (8-6), the Greyhounds scored five runs in support of Honkomp. Senior
Jessie Noone had a two-run single in the third inning that ultimately put the Hounds up for good.
Gianni Iannantone finished 2 for 3 with two runs, a double and walk;
Brooke Montgomery had a double and a sac fly, while
Julia Liceaga managed a single and a pair of walks.

GAME 2 | UIndy 8, Cedarville 3
After three scoreless innings, UIndy jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth. The largest blow came on a three-run blast by Liceaga, good for third home run of the year.

The Jackets finally got on the board with three runs in the fifth, but the Hounds put it away with another four-spot, this time in the seventh. UIndy loaded the bases with one out, setting up consecutive RBI hits by Noone (single),
Taylor Podschweit (double) and Iannantone (single).

Freshman
Halie Waters (8-4) earned the pitching win, scattering nine hits and allowing three runs in 5 1/3 innings. Honkomp entered in the sixth before retiring all four batters she faced to finish the game and earn fourth save of the season.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will make the long bus ride to western Missouri this weekend where they'll take on Rockhurst in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 21, followed by two contests at William Jewell a day later.
