Three earn GLVC weekly honors

INDIANAPOLIS - Three more UIndy track and field stars earned GLVC weekly honors for their efforts last weekend, the conference announced on Thursday. Austin Hogan was named the league's field athlete of the week for the fourth time in his outdoor career, while Treyvon Matthews is a first-time honoree. Katie Monk earned the field award on the women's side, the second time in her career.

Hogan placed in the top-three in each event he participated in at Little State this past weekend, including a win in the discus with a throw of 55.85 meters. His 17.16m toss in the shot was good for second place, while he earned third in the hammer with a 57.66 mark. The junior automatically qualified for the national meet with his discus throw, and he currently ranks third in the country in the event. Among conference throwers, Hogan ranks first in discus and shot, and second in the hammer throw.

Matthews won his first outdoor weekly award with a 14.36 sprint in the 110m hurdles at Little State, earning him first in the event. He currently ranks first in the GLVC and 20th in NCAA Division II.

Monk won two events last weekend at Little State, placing first in the discus (47.88m) and hammer throw (54.45m). She also earned second in the shot put with a toss of 14.62 meters. The junior ranks first in each field event among conference performers, and eighth in the country in the shot. She also ranks 17th and 20th in the discus and hammer throw, respectively.

UIndy is currently scheduled to travel to Louisville this coming weekend.
