Greyhound split with Screaming Eagles on Friday

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy baseball team (28-19, 10-12 GLVC) split with Southern Indiana on Friday afternoon at Greyhound Park in the penultimate doubleheader of the regular season ahead of the conference tournament next weekend.
 
The Hounds scored 10 times in their game-one win, with Dylan Jones leading the offense with four hits and his 11th homer of the season. Jake Sprinkle tossed a quality start, while Dylan Stutsman closed out the final three innings for the win.
 
Hunter Waning had a pair of knocks in game two for UIndy, as the Screaming Eagles put up a 10-spot of their own to defeat the Hounds.

Jones scored Storm Joop in the first to give the Greyhounds their first lead of the game. After Southern Indiana took its own lead after three, Tyler Phillips doubled home Nick Miller in the fourth to knot the game at two apiece.
 
The visitors added three to the scoreboard in the seventh just after Joop doubled to score Phillips in the sixth, but the Hounds answered with four in the bottom half. Jones crushed a solo shot to begin the frame, while Trey Smith and Phillips recorded an RBI single to bookend two-run error that allowed Joop to reach base.
 
Phillips singled and Joop reached on another error in the eighth for three insurance runs that would not be needed for closer Dylan Stutsman, who upped his win total to five this season.
 
UIS 10, UIndy 2
Orloff homered in the first inning, scoring Joop, to begin and end the scoring for the Greyhounds in the nightcap, as the visiting offense scored 10 of its own in the game.
 
Starter Michael Schalasky went just 1.1 innings, allowing four earned runs before being chased from the mound. Cole Humphrey, Brian Wichman, and Nick Lonergan each pitched a scoreless frame.
 
Waning produced two of the team's six hits for UIndy.
 
The Greyhounds and Screaming Eagles wrap up their regular seasons Sunday afternoon, as UIndy will celebrate it seniors. First pitch from Greyhound Park is set for 12 p.m.
