ST. LOUIS, Mo. – After posting the best start in over a decade, UIndy took their 4-0 record to St. Louis in their conference opener with Missouri-St. Louis. The Tritons came into tonight's game with a 1-2 record, losing both of their games in overtime. Friday night was no different for UMSL, it took 105 minutes before the Hounds and Tritons had a winner emerge.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy had a couple of chances in the first half but were unable to connect, after surviving a quick threat from UMSL. The Greyhounds had chances in the final minutes of the second half, but the UMSL goalkeeper did not break. The Greyhound defense kept the momentum from their non-conference slate, not allowing an UMSL shot to get to
Miles Palmer in the first overtime period. While the Tritons had two shots go wide of the goal, UIndy was able to test the UMSL goalkeeper, firing off four shots, but each of them saved.
Â
The first half of the second overtime period had gone by before either team got the ball into scoring position. UIndy brought senior
Callum Walsh back into the game, setting up the difference in the game. Walsh lined up for a corner kick in the 105th minute, and just moments later
Josh Mahon found the ball and knew what to do with it. Mahon took the Walsh pass, and headed it into the bottom of the net past the Triton defense. Game over, Greyhounds win.

HOUND BYTES
Head Coach Jon Higgins on tonight's overtime thriller, "really good for us to have to grind one out. Their keeper was fantastic on the night, but, we did a really good job staying patient and sticking to our game plan. We thought at the start of the season we could be dangerous on set plays and thankfully we were able to execute in overtime."
