Greyhounds' win streak snapped at #14 Drury

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The UIndy volleyball team (10-4, 5-1 GLVC) had its six-match winning streak snapped on Friday night by No. 14 Drury at the O'Reilly Family Event Center. The Greyhounds were held to just .120 hitting on the night in the sweep, while Katie Furlong paced the team with 12 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds and Panthers were deadlocked at 12 in the opening frame before the host school pulled away to grab the 1-0 advantage. Taylor Jacquay picked up three of her six kills in the first set, a third of the team's kill.

UIndy attacked at a much better rate in the second set, recording a .241 hitting percentage as a team. However, the Panthers hit their best of the night in the second at .325. The Greyhounds had both of their solo blocks in the second set, as Emily Ellis and Taylor Jacquay each earned a solo stop, while Ellis and Furlong got in on another.

Just like the first two sets of the night, the Hounds were unable to build any momentum in the third game. After kills by Furlong and Katie Voelz, the Panthers scored 14 of the next 22 points to force a UIndy timeout at 15-10. Voelz posted two more kills in the set, but Drury ran away at the end to sweep the Hounds.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Four Greyhounds recorded at least eight digs on the night, with Olivia Martin leading with 12 scoops. Jacquay, along with her six kills, was second on the team with nine digs, while Jena Davis and Alyssa Spears each had eight.

With 12 more kills on Friday, Furlong has began the season with 14 straight matches with double-figures. Heading into the night, the sophomore led the GLVC with 4.70 kills/set.

With two more solo blocks against the Panthers, UIndy has now recorded a individual stop the past 12 matches. The last time the Hounds failed to post a solo block was the first day of the season against Anderson.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will head to Rolla, Mo. to conclude the short road trip tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. UIndy swept Missouri S&T a season ago in Ruth Lilly Fitness Center.
