INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy track & field collected a pair of awards Wednesday, as Greyhound throwers
Austin Hogan and
Katie Monk garnered the GLVC Field Athlete of the Week honor for their respective genders.
Â
Monk set yet another school record last weekend at the UIndy Tom Hathaway Distance Classic. After surpassing the UIndy mark in the weight throw each of the previous two meets, the Churabusco, Ind., native snapped her own program record in the shot put. Her toss of 15.59 meters won the event while also matching the NCAA automatic qualifying standard. She also bested all collegians in the weight with a toss of 18.98 meters.
Monk currently ranks No. 1 in all of Division II in the weight throw while ranking fifth in the shot.
Â
Hogan, meanwhile, won the men's shot put for the fourth consecutive meet, recording a first-place throw of 17.32 meters. He also finished runner-up in the weight throw with a mark of 19.72 meters, first among collegians and second only to his coach and former UIndy All-American
Matt Royer. Hogan ranks in the top 10 in DII in both the weight (7th) and the shot (9th).
Â
Wednesday's announcement begins the first weekly award for both student-athletes this year.. Monk can now stake claim to seven career GLVC indoor weekly honors while Hogan's resume sports eight.
