Hounds Set Two Meet Records on Day Two of GLVC Championships

BOLIVAR, MO— The University of Indianapolis track and field team saw eight medalists on the second day of the GLVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, highlighted by four first-place finishes with two meet records from Alex Meyer and Felix Rivet.

After breaking the GLVC Championship record set in 1997 with his second attempt of 7.86m, Meyer extended his lead and set a new school record on his third jump of 7.89m. The junior was supported in the men's long jump by Nicholas Monro, who gave his team points with his jump of 7.01m to take seventh. 

In the final event of the night, Felix Rivet secured the fourth gold medal of the day for the Hounds, besting the 3,000m steeplechase record by nearly three seconds with a time of 8:51.83. 

Vivian Osagie dominated the women's shot put competition with a toss of 15.62m, setting her over a meter ahead of the rest of the field. In addition to Osagie's gold medal, UIndy had four more in finals to bring the women's squad 24 points in the event. 

The Hounds received significant contributions from the women's pole vault crew, who also brought the team 24 points in their event. Mackenzie Van Bibber once again led the way for the Hounds with a first-place finish, as the only competitor to clear 4.00m. Just behind VanBibber, freshman Ann Elise Sloan earned a silver medal, clearing 3.87m on her second attempt. Addison Windsor and Maleah Bostock finished within the top nine to add to the Greyhound total. 

UIndy had three men's shot putters make the final round, led by William Kemper, who jumped to second place after his third throw of 16.30m. The freshman would hold on to his place for the next three rounds to add eight points to UIndy's total. 

The Hounds saw two bronze medal finishes from the multis. Cole Hurt finished with 6,264 points in the decathlon, while Jorjia Ferguson finished the heptathlon with a total of 4,497 points. 

In her steeplechase debut, Savannah Daneilson finished seventh to bring her team points with a time of 11:49.23.

UIndy had six advance from Friday's prelims to Saturday's finals with Josue Le Cadre, Yanis Le Mouillour, and Curt Dahnche all making the cut for the 800m finals. Jorjia Ferguson advanced to the 100m hurdle finals, Kevion Mitchell will compete in the 110m hurdle finals while Cloey Simon made the cut in the 400m hurdles. 

THURSDAY
Junior, Macie Swinehart, led the way for the Hounds on the first day of the GLVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, taking first in the women's hammer to earn her second conference title of the season. 

The women's hammer squad brought their team 22 points on the day, with Swineharts' winning effort of 53.01m bringing 10 of those. Just behind the junior, sophomore Maya Efodi took second place with a toss of 51.55m, while Loria Snowden and Amanda Noel also provided support to the team score, taking sixth and eighth, respectively. 

In the men's hammer, freshman William Kemper led the UIndy effort with a second-place finish courtesy of a new personal record of 56.53m. Fellow freshman Benjamin Booren also added to the team score with an eighth-place finish off a toss of 49.50m.

Senior Hailey Orosz finished sixth in the 1,500m preliminary round with a time of 4.38.87, pushing her to the final race on Saturday. 

All four Hounds that competed in the men's 1,500m earned their spot in the next round with Josue Le Cadre, Yanis Le Mouillour, Felix Rivet, and Ian Pugh competing in Saturday's finals. 

Senior Emma Gaston shaved over a minute off her 10,000m personal best, to jump four spots and earn a point for the Hounds with a time of 38:28.27.
