Allen Scores First Career Goal in Hounds' 1-0 Win Over Lewis

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Coming off a huge bounce-back win Sunday against UMSL, the UIndy men's soccer team hit the road Friday night to take on Lewis. The Hounds kept up their winning ways Friday, topping the Flyers 1-0 at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds defense was able to block a pair of Lewis shot early on to keep the Flyers off the board. The UIndy offense on the other hand missed a couple of chances of their own before striking first in the 27th minute. Senior Javier Steinwascher found sophomore Kendall Allen who made his second start of the season who put the Hounds up 1-0 just past the mid-way point of the half. Allen went back for more just a minute later but had his shot saved as did Steinwascher as UIndy took the 1-nil lead into the break.

The UIndy defense kept the pressure on the Flyers in the second half as they did throughout the first. Holding Lewis to no shots on goal in the second half, making Dimitrios Karousos' workload between the pipes light in the Friday night win. The Hounds as a team blocked every shot attempted by a Flyer in Friday night's win as UIndy went on to win their second-straight game by a score of 1-0.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Kendall Allen's goal in the 27th minute gave the Circle City native the first goal of his career in seven career games.
-The Lewis offense had been on a roll of late, winning their last two games by a combined score of 5-0. The Hounds limited the Flyers offense to no shots on target after averaging seven in their last two contests.
-UIndy has shut out back-to-back GLVC opponents for the first time since 2017 when they shut out Missouri S&T and Southern Indiana in the same weekend.
