Undefeated Hounds Drop Quincy, 59-19

INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 10 UIndy football team (6-0, 4-0 GLVC) remained undefeated with a convincing 59-19 win against visiting Quincy University Saturday night at Key Stadium. The Greyhounds racked up a gaudy 654 total yards on the way to their sixth win in as many weeks.

The action also included a pair of major milestones, as the Hounds matched the record for consecutive GLVC wins (22), while junior running back Al McKeller became just the sixth player in program history to reach 3,000 career rushing yards.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds hung the first 31 points on the board, with Aaron Matio earning a pair of first-half touchdown receptions and Daveon Bell breaking off an 81-yard punt return for a score in the second quarter. All told, seven different Hounds would break the plain, with Joseph Sarabia and T'Nahleg Hall each scoring their first collegiate TD.

McKeller was his normal dominating self, amassing 139 yards on 23 carries, including an eight-yard TD run in the third quarter. He finished the night at 3,074 career rushing yards to join five other Greyhounds in the exclusive 3K club. He needs 24 more yards to jump two spots into fourth on the UIndy all-time rushing list.

Meanwhile, senior quarterback TJ Edwards finished 18-29 passing for 319 yards and three TDs. He also ran for 36 yards and another score. Four Greyhounds had at least four catches, including Ryan Topper and Maurice Robinson, who each set career highs in receiving yards at 129 and 106, respectively.

The Greyhounds also forced and recovered two Quincy fumbles, with both leading to quick scores by the offense. Caleb Henderson led the Hounds with eight tackles, Joe Lambright had two tackles for a loss, Jacob Schmatz was credited with two QB hurries and Mitch Dewitt had three pass break-ups.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Edwards and back-up Jacob Leffew combined for 402 yards passing, marking the first time the Hounds surpassed 400 yards in a single game since 2011.
- Bell's punt return score gave him three such touchdowns for his career, tying the program record. He also moved into second in the UIndy punt return yardage list.
- Kicker Paul Buisman went 8-for-8 in extra-point attempts for the second straight week. He also chipped in a 23-yard field goal.
- The victory ties the GLVC record of 22 consecutive league wins, a mark first set by the Greyhounds from 2012-14. UIndy's last lost to conference opponent came at Quincy in 2016.

MORE NOTES
The Greyhounds are now 7-1 all-time versus Quincy … UIndy has won all six of its games by at least 15 points, including an averaging margin of victory of nearly 44 points in the last four.
