Gamble's First Career Goal a Game-winner as Hounds Top Panthers

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Fresh off their win Friday afternoon against Southwest Baptist, the UIndy women's soccer team looked to make it back-to-back wins on the road Sunday afternoon at Drury. It came down until nearly the very end but the Hounds took down the Panthers, 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds were the team to strike first Sunday, freshman Maria Herrero continued her fantastic inaugural campaign in the 28th minute, converting a penalty kick to give the Hounds to 1-0 advantage. With the half winding down, Drury was able to score a goal of their own, getting a shot past Sophia Saucerman in goal as the game went into the break tied at 1-1.

UIndy controlled possession during most of the second half, firing off multiple shots at the Panthers goal keeper. The Greyhound momentum felt like they were about to break the tie and find the back of the net, was just a matter of when. Hannah Gamble was in the game for almost five minutes before scoring her first goal of her career, and making it a game-winner as well. UIndy ended their final road trip on a positive note, defeating Drury 2-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Taylor Peck assisted Hannah Gamble's game winning-goal, giving the Oswego native five total points on the weekend.
-For the second time this season, half of UIndy's shots on goal resulted in goals for the Greyhounds.
-Sunday's win gives the Greyhounds nine wins on the year, matching last year's win total with four games left in the regular season.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds return home where they will play their next four games to close out the 2019 regular season, the Hounds play host to Missouri S&T Friday night at Key Stadium at 5 pm.
