Greyhounds Earn 10th Win of Season Against Missouri S&T

INDIANAPOLIS – After finishing up their road schedule for the year, the UIndy women's soccer team returned home for their first of four-straight home games Friday night. The Hounds hosted the Missouri S&T Miners who came into tonight's contest 8th in the GLVC, beating S&T 1-0.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy controlled things early, constantly pushing the Miner defense and getting the ball on their side of the field. The Oswego duo of Kaylee Zimbelmann and Taylor Peck put the S&T backfield to work, but came up empty on a couple different opportunities in the opening minutes. The Greyhound offense made things easy for Sophia Saucerman in the first half, as she did not only faced one shot on goal in the half, as the two teams went into the break tied at 0.
 
The Greyhounds came out in the second half wanting to come out and finish the job in thye started in the first half. Taylor Peck connected in the 49th minute finally breaking the stalemate, scoring her 5th goal of the year to give the Hounds the 1-0 lead. UIndy came close to expanding their lead a couple of times, but came up empty. The Miners made a push late, threating in the last minute of the game but the Greyhound defense did not budge, holding on for the 1-0 win.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Friday night was UIndy's 10th win of the season, surpassing last season's win total of nine. It is the Greyhounds first 10-win season under Holly Cox and their first since 2011.
-Taylor Peck has been on a roll lately for UIndy. Last week's player of the week has scored three goals in as many games during UIndy's three-game winning streak.
-UIndy now sits in a tie for third place in the GLVC after Bellarmine beat Maryville in Louisville Friday night. The Hounds beat Bellarmine in overtime back in September.
