INDIANAPOLIS – After
Taylor Peck won UIndy's second GLVC player of the week honor of the season last week, the Greyhounds doubled their award totals this week, sweeping GLVC player of the week honors this week. Peck repeated as GLVC offensive player of the week while
Sophia Saucerman earned defensive player of the week.
Â
After scoring two goals last week, Peck scored three more this weekend as the Greyhounds went 2-0 with wins over Missouri S&T and Maryville. The Oswego, Ill., native was responsible for all three UIndy goals, including her second multi-goal game in her last four games. Peck becomes the first player to win back-to-back offensive conference player of the week awards since 2017.
Â
As for Saucerman, the freshman from Cathedral has recorded a clean sheet in three of her last four starts in goal. In the team's wins over Missouri S&T and Maryville, Saucerman made six saves on the weekend, helping the Hounds vault up to third in the GLVC standings heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Saucerman is the second freshman to be awarded GLVC defensive player of the week honors this season.
Â
It's the first time since the GLVC started awarding offensive and defensive player of the week awards that UIndy took home both awards. It is also the first time since 2006 that the Greyhounds won player of the week awards in consecutive weeks.
