LOUSIVILLE – The UIndy cross country teams packed their bags and traveled down to the University of Louisville on Saturday to compete in the Louisville Classic. The Greyhounds featured runners in both the women's 5,000 meter and the men's 8,000 meter races.
Kelsey Dugger led the way for the women, finishing her race on a final time of 18:47.9 to place 153rd.
Madison Vauters came up right behind her teammate for 255th place to cross the line at 19:30.2.
Hannah Stein (19:49.6),
Maisie Lay (19:51.1) and
Yailene Leon (19:54.7) all came soon after at the finish line.
AJ Goecker was the top Greyhound on the roster in the men's 8,000 meter race, placing 118th overall with his final time of 26:28.6. His freshman counterpart in
Mika Long finished soon after with his time of 26:37.8 for 132nd.
Kyle Gross was the last Greyhound to round out the top 200 competitors, finishing 179th with his time of 27:05.5.
Samuel Novak (27.42.7),
Trace Perez (27:45.3) and
Ben Nagel (27:47.3) also finished in the top 300.
UIndy will look towards to compete next at the Lewis Conference Crossover, the final race before the championship season. The race will take place in Romeoville, Ill. on Saturday, October 12 at 11 a.m.
