ST. LOUIS - The UIndy volleyball team (16-7, 7-3 GLVC) fell to No. 25 Missouri-St. Louis (22-3, 7-3 GLVC) on Friday evening in the first of a four-match road trip.
MaKenna Barnhart scooped up 16 digs (5.3 per set) in the loss, while
Taylor Jacquay recorded nine kills on .250 hitting for the Greyhounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The offense held steady on Friday night, but it was the Triton attack that took over the gym. Missouri-St. Louis delivered a .310 hitting percentage in the opening set on its way to a 25-15 win, with
Katie Furlong and
Emma Jones each scoring two kills. The UIndy defense stepped up in the second frame, recording two of its three total blocks on the night. However, the Tritons built too large of a lead for the Greyhounds to overcome despite three more kills from Jacquay.
A kill from
Julia Kruzan put the Greyhounds up 8-4 early in the third set, with a Jacquay effort stretching UIndy's lead to 13-9 moments later. Missouri-St. Louis tallied the next five points to take the lead before slipping away from UIndy on a match-best .341 attack percentage to finish off the sweep.
