INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy men's soccer team hosted their GLVC quarterfinal game Sunday afternoon against Southern Indiana. The Screaming Eagles were boosted by a late push, scoring two goals late against the Hounds to end UIndy's GLVC tournament run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Javier and
Alejandro Steinwascher paced the UIndy offense early on, each testing the USI keeper but coming up empty. The Screaming Eagles put a pair of shots on goal, but
Miles Palmer continued to make saves to keep the Hounds and USI tied going into the half.
The second half provided all the action for the fans at Key Stadium Sunday afternoon. USI broke the stalemate with a goal in the 72nd minute, but the Southern Indiana lead did not last long.
Javier Steinwascher sent a shot whistling past the Screaming Eagle keep to tie the game at 1-1. Just over a minute went by before USI regained the lead. USI scored one more time shortly as the Hounds faced a 3-1 deficit late. Steinwascher took a PK to bring UIndy within one, but could not muster anything late as they fell 3-2 to USI.
