Women's Basketball Hosts Davenport in Home Opener

UIndy Greyhounds (2-0) vs. Davenport Panthers (0-2)
Friday, Nov. 15, 5 pm ET.

ON TAP
The UIndy women's basketball teams returns home after spending last weekend in Michigan. After collecting two wins last weekend, UIndy welcomes the Davenport Panthers Friday evening for their home opener.

HOUNDS vs. PANTHERS
When UIndy and Davenport meet Friday, it will be the first meeting between the two programs. Panthers head coach Rick Albro is the fourth head coach in the program's history since the program's birth in 2002.

ABOUT DAVENPORT
UIndy will be Davenport's third and final GLVC opponent on their non-conference schedule. Davenport opened their season last week with a pair of games against GLVC opponents, facing Maryville and Missouri-St. Louis on the road. The Panthers fell to Maryville who finished 5th in the conference last year before UMSL mustered up a second half comeback to top the Panthers by five.

The Panthers were picked to finish fifth out of six teams in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) preseason poll. After finishing 5-22 on the season and going 3-17 in conference play, Davenport returns their lone all-conference selection from last season in Jenna Falkenberg. The senior was named to the preseaosn all-conference team for the south division for the Panthers. The senior forward paced the Panthers in numerous categories a seaosn ago, leading Davenport in points per game (14.6), rebounds per game (9.6), and finished the year with 58 rejections a season ago.

WODRICH vs. GLIAC
Kristin Wodrich once again loaded her team's non-conference schedule with in-region games. The Hounds racked up two wins against G-MAC schools last week. now move on to face a GLIAC school. UIndy went 3-3 against schools from the GLIAC last year, losing to two nationally-ranked teams in Ashland and Grand Valley State and Northern Michigan who also moved on to play in the NCAA tournament.

HOME SWEET HOME (OPENER)
UIndy has won two of their three home openers since Kristin Wodrich took over as coach of the Greyhounds. The last time UIndy dropped their home opener was against Northern Michigan in 2017. Current UIndy forward Emma Benoit scored four points for the Wildcats that night as Northern Michigan won 59-53 in Nicoson Hall.

PLAY BIG, WIN BIG
UIndy's frontcourt provided them with solid play all weekend last year. Junior Dasia Evans and senior Emma Benoit are both averaging 11.5 points and 8 boards after the first weekend of both. Contributions from both forwards as well as Paige Barrett and McKenzy Telfair play a large role in UIndy's +22.5 point margin this year. The Hounds rank first in the GLVC in scoring margin this year, edging out the nation's No. 1 team in Drury.
