Cedarville Edges Greyhounds with Fourth-Quarter Push

INDIANAPOLIS – It was a tough defensive battle on Wednesday evening in Nicoson Hall, but the UIndy women's basketball team (3-1) came up on the short end against visiting in-region Cedarville (3-1), 60-55. The Yellow Jackets hauled in 14 offensive rebounds to score 12 second-chance points.

Emma Benoit led the Greyhounds once again with 19 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Clinging to a one-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, the Greyhounds endured a fatal three-minute scoring drought as the Yellow Jackets used a 5-0 run to pull away. A steal from Evans led directly to a Laura Thomas jumper before Benoit scored to cut it to one with 33 ticks remaining, but UIndy could not get it any closer before time expired.

The Yellow Jackets had six offensive rebounds alone in the fourth quarter, as Benoit did all she could in the final period with seven of 19 points coming in the final 10 minutes.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Benoit is averaging 17.3 points and 13.0 rebounds over the last three contests after another double-double performance from the senior
-McKenzy Telfair knocked down the lone Greyhounds' 3-pointer, as the junior scored seven of her 11 points in the first half
-Three Greyhounds handed out three assists against Cedarville, including Evans, who added 13 points and six rebounds to her line

MORE NOTES
UIndy cut its turnovers in half from the win over Davenport, committing just 14 on Wednesday … Abby Wolford and Ashlyn Huffman led the Yellow Jackets with 13 points apiece … Cedarville has now four of the last five contests against UIndy to even the series history at 4-4.

UP NEXT
UIndy heads to Lake Erie on Sunday for a 1 p.m. tip in Painesville, Ohio. It will be the first-ever meeting between the Greyhounds and Storm.
