Hounds Storm Past Lake Erie to Move to 5-1

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The UIndy women's basketball team traveled east to face the Lake Erie Storm Sunday afternoon. The Hounds were looking to bounce back after suffering their first loss of the season to Cedarville Wednesday night and were up to the challenge, beating the home team 80-73.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In her first start of the season, junior McKenzy Telfair scored the first five points of the game for the Greyhounds as they jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead before the Storm got their first bucket. Laura Thomas and Dasia Evans helped out Telfair and the Hounds on their way to scoring 21 points in the opening quarter. Going into the second period with an eight point lead, the Hounds kept clicking offensively, leading by as much as 20 in the half. UIndy made three of their four attempts from beyond the arc in the half, going 47% from the field as they led 40-23 going into the locker room.

The Hounds held on to their lead throughout the third quarter, leading by as much as 21 at one point. The Storm put together a solid run to end the third period, cutting the Greyhound lead down to just nine on a layup on their final possession heading into the fourth. Lake Erie would cut the lead down to just five in the final frame, but the Hounds maintained a nearly 10-point lead throughout the period. UIndy went on to beat Lake Erie on their home court, 80-73.
