Feast Week Continues as Hounds Defeat Northwood

MIDLAND Mich. – The UIndy women's basketball team got a few days off between games as part of their Thanksgiving break. The Hounds earned their second-straight win this week, beating Northwood on their home floor, 62-58.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Northwood scored the game's first points, hitting a three to start the game. The Timberwolves would not hold the lead long against the Greyhounds took the lead with McKenzy Telfair and Dasia Evans got going as UIndy led Northwood after the end of the first period. Northwood would come back in the second quarter to take the lead with just over a minute to go in the half off another three-pointer as the Hounds trailed by one heading into the break.

Coming out of the break, it was back-and-forth throughout the third quarter. UIndy led by as much as five in the third, but it was Northwood who led heading into the game's final 10 minutes leading by just one once again. The fourth quarter is where the Greyhound offense came to life, going off for 20 points in the final frame. UIndy held the lead throughout the fourth quarter with the Timberwolves hanging around. But, it was an Emma Benoit offensive rebound off a Mickey Sasson missed free throw that sealed the game as the Hounds picked up their fifth win of 2019-20.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-The Greyhounds had their best game of the year shooting the ball. The Hounds shot over 50% from the field for the first time this season, doing most of their damage in the paint as they only shot six three's on the day.
-Being aggressive paid off for the Hounds in Saturday's win. UIndy shot 22 free throws compared to Northwood's eight as the Timberwolves only made three of those attempts.
-Turnovers haunted UIndy early in the season, the last three games UIndy has turned the ball over just 14 or 17 times, picking up wins in two of those three games.

UP NEXT
The Hounds will play their first game at home since November 20th this week, hosting Bellarmine in their GLVC opener Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m.
