INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team welcomed long-time rival Bellarmine to Nicoson Hall for the final time Tuesday night. The Hounds were able to get their first win over Bellarmine since 2016, beating the Knights 52-49.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The UIndy defense was stout early, holding the Knights to just eight points in the first period on 26% shooting from the field. The Hounds shot 45% in the opening frame, but four UIndy turnovers limited the Greyhound offense to taking a sizable lead. Heading into the second quarter, UIndy kept Bellarmine from finding a rhythm anywhere on the court. The Knights could not figure out how to attack the Greyhound defense, shooting 13% from the field as the Hounds grew their lead to five heading into the half.

The Knights were able to find a rhythm in the second half, shooting 33% in the third period after going 20% in the first half. It was a big quarter for the Hounds however as UIndy built up a 10 point lead heading into the final frame. Bellarmine's offense really clicked in the fourth quarter, going on a 13-2 run to shrink the Greyhound lead down to four with just over three minutes to go. The Knights trailed by just three but the Hounds were dominant on the boards to hold on to the three-point win.
