Hounds Overwhelm Cougars in Non-Conference Clash

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team continued its hot start to the 2019-20 season, downing Indiana University Kokomo Thursday night in Nicoson Hall, 78-56. The Greyhounds move to 7-1 on the season, good for the program's best start since 2012.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds sprinted out of the gate, building a sizable lead with a 22-3 run to close the opening quarter. McKenzy Telfair sparked the rally with a 3-pointer from the wing, while Dasia Evans went on to rack up 10 points in the period.

The margin ballooned to 27 by the half as the Cougars mustered just 19 points in the first 20 minutes. UIndy would finish the night with an even .500 field goal percentage, despite missing 14 shots from behind the arc.

Three Greyhounds hit double-digits, including Evans (14 pts), Telfair (12) and Marissa Knobloch (10).

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Evans amassed her team-high point total on 7-of-10 shooting, while adding five boards, three assists and three steals.
- Both Telfair and Knobloch hit a pair of threes, with the latter setting a new career best in points and the former matching her previous collegiate high.
- UIndy assisted on 23 of their 33 made field goals, with both numbers setting new season highs.

- Paige Barrett and Mickey Sasson paced the Hounds with six rebounds apiece.
- Laura Thomas dished out a game-high six dimes as one of 10 Greyhounds with at least one assist.
