GENEVEA, Ohio – The Greyhounds took on a chilly match against Lake Erie on Saturday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA DII Men's Soccer tournament. The UIndy men's soccer team were able to outlast Lake Erie, winning 2-0 to advance to the NCAA DII Sweet 16 in the first weekend in December.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds came out of the gate swinging at the Storm, scoring their first goal within the first six minutes of the match.
Jakub Olczyk took a beautiful pass from the Seinwascher brothers, sliding the ball into the back of the net in the lower left corner of the goal.
Javier Steinwascher would once again find Olcyzk in the start of the second half, nearly solidifying the game in just the 54th minute of the contest. The defense proved to be just as good as the offense, as
Miles Palmer only required to defend two shots on goal the entire match.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Lake Erie shot the ball seven times in the game, only two of them having a chance of scoring.
-The Greyhounds moved the ball around effectively, showcasing six different student-athletes to take shots in the match.
-Saturday's win marks the farthest UIndy has advanced in the NCAA DII Tournament within the decade.
