Hounds Punch Ticket to Sweet 16

FINDLAY, Ohio – The UIndy women's soccer team went up against a physical Findlay team in the second round of the NCAA tournament Saturday afternoon. The Hounds were able to fend off the Oilers, beating the home team 1-0 advance to the Sweet 16 next month.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a scoreless first half for both teams, the Greyhound defense held strong, helping Sophia Saucerman in goal. The second half is when the 0-0 stalemate was finally broken. Amanda Meyer found a cutting Alexi Hardie in the 58th minute as Hardie put the ball in the back of the net to give the Hounds the 1-0 lead with over 30 minutes to play.

UIndy tried to expand their lead, staying aggressive down the stretch. Carah Kreimer nearly gave UIndy its second goal of the day, but the Findlay keeper made the save in the bottom corner of the goal. The Oilers kept shooting trying to tie the game, putting just a couple of shots on frame but came up empty as Sophia Saucerman saved all six Findlay shots on goal in the game as UIndy held on for the 1-0 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Findlay more than tripled UIndy's shots Saturday afternoon, the Hounds only got off six shots to the Oilers' 22. But the Oilers only put six of their shots on frame in the game while the Hounds were much more efficient when it came to putting their shots on target, getting five on frame.
-Sophia Saucerman becomes the first Greyhound goalkeeper in program history two record two shutouts in NCAA tournament games.
-Saturday's win gave the Hounds their 10th shutout of the year, tied for the most in a single season in program history.
