Women's Soccer Tops Jewell 1-0 on Senior Day

INDIANAPOLIS – After a big 3-0 win over Rockhurst on Friday, the UIndy women's soccer team was back in action Sunday afternoon sitting at No. 2 in the GLVC. The Greyhounds welcomed William Jewell to Key Stadium while hosting their Senior Day festivities before the game, before beating the Cardinals 1-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In Holly Cox fashion, the Hounds started all six seniors against the Cardinals Sunday afternoon. While the first half did not result in any points on the scoreboard for either team, the Greyhounds came close to scoring multiple times, just missing out on goals on numerous cross attempts. Sophia Saucerman tallied four saves in the first half, only facing eight shots from the Cardinals.

All the momentum the Greyhounds built offensively resulted in the match's first goal in the 56th minute. Dana Youssef lined up a corner kick and delivered perfect ball to Taylor Peck, who headed it in to give the Hounds the 1-0 lead. The Greyhounds leaned on their defense down the stretch, and they were up to the task as the Hounds sent their seniors off with a 1-0 win on Senior Day.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Greyhounds have shut out four straight opponents and five of their last six, only giving up one goal in the last three weeks.
- Peck made another strong case for GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, adding another goal to her ever-growing season total. The junior from Oswego. Ill., now has 21 points on the year, good for a new career high.
- The Hounds finished the 2019 regular season with a perfect 8-0 record at Key Stadium.
- UIndy also earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming GLVC Championship Tournament.
