Historic Fall Season Lands Hounds In Director’s Cup Top 10

CLEVELAND – Coming off one of the most successful fall seasons in school history, the University of Indianapolis appeared at No. 9 in the semester's final NCAA Division II Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings, released Tuesday. The Greyhounds' final total of 197 set a program record for fall points while positioning them inside the top 10.

For the first time ever, all four of UIndy's fall team sports – men's and women's soccer, volleyball and football – qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Both soccer clubs made historic runs, with the women earned their first trip to the Sweet 16 since 2006 and the men advancing all the way to the Final Four. Volleyball made its first Midwest Regional appearance since 2013, while football secured its sixth playoff berth in the last eight years.

The Hounds are the top-scoring team in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, leading Southern Indiana (28th, 141 pts), Rockhurst (42nd, 108), et al. Additionally, UIndy is on pace to notch its 14th straight top-20 finish in the prestigious standings. Just two other Division II schools – Grand Valley State and Adams State – can claim an active streak of that length.

The Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish at NCAA Championships. Complete standings and the scoring structure can be found on NACDA's website at directorscup.org.
