The University of Indianapolis football team garnered a lofty position in the 2026 Lindy's Sports Division II preseason poll. The Greyhounds were tabbed No. 8 in the nation, per Lindy's annual college football yearbook. UIndy is one of four Super Region 3 schools to appear in the top 10.
In addition to a number of
incoming transfers and a talented
recruiting class, the Greyhounds welcome back 11 starters and eight
all-conference performers from last year's
GLVC championship team. The previous fall was an historic one for the Hounds, who matched the school record with 11 wis while notching program firsts with a fourth-consecutive playoff appearance and first-ever second-round home game.
The Greyhounds received votes in the DII coaches poll throughout the 2025 regular season, peaking at No. 8 in mid-November before settling at
No. 10 in the final edition. UIndy swept through the GLVC schedule before dominating conference-rival Truman in the opening round of the  playoffs,
57-14, before falling to nationally-ranked Minnesota State in the second round,
35-27.
