INDIANAPOLIS-  UIndy women's tennis senior Hanna Volikova has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference  Player of the Week for the first time this season and the sixth time in her career, announced by the league Tuesday.

Volikova, currently ranked #4 nationally and #1 in the region in the singles rankings, posted a 3-0 week on both the singles court and the doubles court, paired with Maja Pindelska. The senior helped the #10 Greyhounds to a 3-0 start to the season, versus three Division I foes. 

Playing one singles versus IUPUI and Butler, Volikova posted wins of 6-3, 6-1 and 7-5, 6-3. The Ukraine native played in the two-spot versus Eastern Illinois Sunday, taking a 6-2, 6-0 win. In doubles competition, Volikova and Pindelska are currently ranked #16 in the ITA rankings, and posted 6-4, 6-3, and 6-2 wins at two doubles in the three UIndy wins.

Volikova and the Hounds travel to DePauw for mid-week action Wednesday, and will head to Nashville for a match with Tusculum Friday.
