HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – The UIndy softball team (5-3) won its fourth straight game with a 2-0 region victory versus Ursuline College at the Music City Invitational Saturday afternoon. Weather necessitated a four-hour delay to the start of the game while also forcing the cancellation of Saturday's other scheduled contest versus Kentucky Wesleyan.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman
Amy Kaniewski (1-0) pitched a gem on Saturday. The Munster, Ind., native earned her first career complete game, first career win and first career shutout after tossing a three-hitter and walking only one.

Offensively, senior
Taylor Podschweit crushed a solo homer in the third inning to break a scoreless tie, and senior
Shannon Schuetz contributed an RBI single in the sixth. Schuetz also notched a double, while Podschweit added a single and a walk.

Sophomore
Brooke Montgomery has at least one hit in all eight games this season. She managed a one-out single in her final at bat to push her active hitting streak to 10 games, dating back to last season.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will once again head south next week for the Midwest Region Crossover in Evansville, Ind. UIndy's two-day stay starts with in-region battles versus Saginaw Valley and Ferris State on Friday, Feb. 22.
