BALTIMORE, Md. - UIndy junior defender
Riley McClure was named to the 2019 Inside Lacrosse Division II Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year Watch List, the organization announced on Wednesday. The Ancaster, Ontario native is the regining GLIAC Defender of the Year, as well as IWLCA Third-Team All-American.Â
McClure scooped up 46 ground balls and caused 43 turnovers in 2018 en route to her league honor. As a sophomore, she won 98 draw controls, ranking second on the team. The number three was wild in the 2019 season opener for McClure, who picked up three ground balls, caused three turnovers, and earned three wins on the draw.Â
The 5-4 junior is one of just three defenders on the watch list, and one of only two from the Midwest region in the 15-player release. This is the first preseason honor a UIndy women's lacrosse player has received since the program began in the 2016 campaign.Â
