Hounds open GLVC slate with split at Maryville

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The UIndy baseball team opened their conference slate Sunday afternoon on the campus of Maryville University, taking on the Saints in a doubleheader. Today's doubleheader was pushed back from yesterday with tomorrow's series finale coming up tomorrow afternoon.

Maryville 5, Indianapolis 4
The Saints jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning, hitting two home runs off of Corey Bates. The Hounds came back with a big fifth inning, bringing in three runs in the inning. Two RBI's from Tyler Phillips and a Kyle Orloff RBI in the inning paired with a John Carpingly homer in the third inning tied the game up for the Greyhounds heading into the final four innings of the game. The Saints hit their third home run of the game in the eighth inning on a one out solo shot to left to go up 5-4 and went on to take game on by that score.

Indianapolis 3, Maryville 1
Reid Werner took the bump for the Hounds in game two, following up his complete game shutout last week with another quality start, only giving up two hits and no earned runs in the win. Werner's run support began in the fourth inning when Macy Holdsworth went yard for the second time this season. The Hounds picked up runs in both the sixth and eighth innings with Hunter Waning and Jake Perreira picking up an RBI each with the Greyhounds winning game two over the Saints by a score of 3-1.
