Late offensive push gives Greyhounds a win over Lewis

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy baseball team played at Greyhound Park for the first time this season after their previous six home games got moved to Grand Park last month. The home opening series against GLVC foe Lewis was not an easy one for the Hounds, losing the first before winning the second game late.

LEWIS 10, INDIANAPOLIS 3
The Hounds took the early 2-1 lead after a strong bottom of the first after a Kyle Orloff solo shot to left and a Joe Kenney single up the middle brought in Blake Richardson for the home team. The Flyers tied up the game in the second before the Hounds took back the lead on a Richardson sacrifice fly, but were unable to hold onto the lead for long. A big sixth inning where Lewis scored five runs and three more runs in the eighth gave the Flyers the 10-3 win in game one.

INDIANAPOLIS 7, LEWIS 4
The Flyers took the lead early on, scoring two runs in the top of the first. UIndy came back in the bottom of the third when Kyle Orloff went yard for the second time on the day. Lewis took back the lead in the top of the sixth on a UIndy fielding error that plated two more runs heading late into the game. The Flyers would not score again but the UIndy offense caught fire late, scoring two runs in the seventh inning to tie the game before getting three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a three run lead into the top of the ninth when Matt Rearick held Lewis in-check to give the Hounds the 7-4 win in game number two.
