Big innings haunt then help Hounds at Drury

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The UIndy baseball team traveled west to face the Drury Panthers in another GLVC doubleheader. The Hounds ran into a hot Panther squad, winners of three straight coming into today's games and continued their streak winning the first game but the Hounds came back in the second game to split with the Panthers on the road.

DRURY 8, INDIANAPOLIS 4
The Panthers led off the game with a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning and followed their hot start with a big second inning as well. The Panthers brought in four runs in the bottom of the second to increase their lead to 6-0 before the Greyhounds first run of the game. Macy Holdsworth brought in a pair of runs in the third inning to trim the Drury lead to four. The Panthers scored two more runs in the sixth inning to give them eight runs in the game. UIndy scored a run in both the eighth and ninth innings but still fell short in game one.

INDIANAPOLIS 10, DRURY 0
A huge first inning for the Hounds gave them all the momentum and support the pitching staff needed to take the win in game two. The Hounds brought in eight runs in the top of the first inning with Holdsworth and Tyler Phillips each picking up two RBIs in the inning while Blake Richardson, Devon Hensley, and Kyle Orloff all bringing in a run of their own to jump out to the quick 8-0 lead. The Hounds plated two more runs in the seventh with Hunter Waning coming in to score and Richardson scored for the second time on a Jake Perreira sacrifice fly as the Hounds held on to the 10-0 win. On the mound for the Hounds was junior Reid Werner who tossed his second complete game shutout of the season, striking out four and only giving up two hits in the win.
