#16 Hounds Earn Two Region Wins at Cedarville

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The 16th-ranked UIndy softball team (32-10) stepped out of conference play Wednesday, sweeping a doubleheader at Cedarville University. The Greyhounds allowed just one run all afternoon, limiting the host Lady Jackets (23-13) to eight hits in 14 total innings on the day.

UIndy 3, Cedarville 1
Facing reigning G-MAC Pitcher of the Week Morgan Arbogast, the Hounds trailed 1-0 through four innings, but broke through with the tying run in the fifth and the eventual game-winning tally in the sixth. The first run came on an RBI triple from Haylie Foster, while the second came around on a Cedarville error.

The Greyhounds tacked on an insurance run in the seventh, as Foster again came through with runners on, plating Taylor Danielson with a single.

Pitcher Halie Waters, fresh off her first career no-hitter in her last start, got the complete-game win to push her record to 15-6. She allowed just four hits while striking out seven and walking two.

Senior Shannon Schuetz added her second career triple in the second inning, while Cedarville's lone run came on an inside-the-park home run by Heather Lord in the third.

UIndy 3, Cedarville 0
Junior Lauren Honkomp (15-3) stepped in the circle in game two and delivered another gem. The all-region performer notched her fourth shutout of the season, limiting the Jackets to four hits and a single walk.

After scoring in the top of the first on a wild pitch, the Greyhounds added a run in the third on a Gianni Iannantone double, and then a third score on an RBI triple by Hanna Burris. The latter hit marked the Hounds' third triple of the day. Burris also had a single and a stolen base, while Kamrie Foster with 1-for-3 with a run scored.
