Perreira's walk-off highlights sweep of Purdue Northwest

INDIANAPOLIS – After taking two of three on the road against Truman, the UIndy baseball team returned to action at Greyhound Park Tuesday afternoon. The Hounds hosted Purdue Northwest of the GLIAC to cap off their non-conference slate, UIndy took game one from the Pride on a huge comeback before sweeping the Pride, taking three of four from the Pride this season.

INDIANAPOLIS 12, PURDUE NORTHWEST 10 (7 innings)
UIndy fell behind early, trailing 7-0 after three innings. UIndy's comeback started with a four run inning in the third inning with Tyler Phillips and Joe Kenney each picking up a pair of RBIs. Purdue Northwest was up 10-4 heading into the fifth inning when UIndy put up one run before another four run inning in the sixth brought the Hounds within one heading into the bottom of the seventh. Tyler Phillips tied the game with a solo shot to left field before Jake Perreira took the Purdue Northwest pitcher to deep right center off the ARC to give UIndy the 12-10 win in game one.

INDIANAPOLIS 8, PURDUE NORTHWEST 2
After scoring two runs on a Pride error in the first, UIndy increased their lead in the second inning on a Hunter Waning solo shot to left field to go up 3-0. The Greyhounds used a big fourth inning in game two to take the game two victory. After a Waning double brought in a run, a Will Smithey single brought in Waning later before a Macy Holdsworth home run capped off the four run inning to go up 7-0. The Pride put a run on the board in both the fifth and sixth innings while the Greyhounds tacked on another run after an Isaac Bair sac fly. Giving the Hounds to 8-2 lead late in the game.
