INDIANAPOLIS – The 12th-ranked UIndy football team (4-0, 2-0 GLVC) celebrated Homecoming with a 49-6 onslaught against visiting Southwest Baptist (2-2, 0-1) at Key Stadium Saturday night. The Greyhounds hung 28 points on the board in the second quarter alone and ultimately held the Bearcats to just 167 total yards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After averaging more than 55 points per game the last two weeks, the Hounds continued to generate points at an impressive rate. UIndy needed just 58 seconds to cash in on their first drive of the night, with
TJ Edwards finding
Daveon Bell for a 64-yard gain followed by a 21-yard touchdown rush by Edwards himself.
Â
The Greyhounds went on to rack up 42 points before the half, with two touchdowns receptions from Bell and two interception return TDs, all in the second quarter. Junior defensive lineman
Ryan Guhl delivered the team's first pick-six of the season, corralling a batted ball and taking it 12 yards to the house. On the very next Bearcat drive, senior linebacker
Joe Lambright jumped an out route and sprinted 40 yards for the score.
Â
Â
The Hounds tacked on one more TD on the opening possession of the second half before cruising to the win. UIndy out-gained the Bearcats 406 yards to 167, with SBU's total including just 52 rushing yards.
