QUINCY, Ill. – A quick road trip for the UIndy men's soccer team as the Hounds traveled west to Quincy Sunday afternoon to face the Hawks. The UIndy offense got in sync Friday night, but struggled to stay hot Sunday, falling to Quincy 3-1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
There was no shortage of action early on in the game. The Hawks connected on a header to take a 1-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game. It only took two minutes for the Greyhounds to match the Hawks goal when Ben Rohder connected on a penalty kick to knot things up at 1-1. After UIndy got the ball in Quincy territory but came up empty, the Hawks turned around to find the back of the net again to go back up by a goal.
 
The Greyhounds threatened early on in the second half, but did not get past the Quincy goalkeeper. The Hawks were able to regain possession and take the ball back on their side of the field, scoring another goal in the 76th minute to go up 3-1 with the game winding down. The Hounds could not add another goal in the closing minutes, falling 3-1 on the road.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Despite giving up three goals, the Hounds defense only allowed four shots on target on the day. The last time UIndy put more shots on goal in a losing effort was against Truman in 2018.
-The Greyhounds have already hit 100 shots this season, putting 51% of their shots on goal.
-UIndy's depth continues to show as nine reserves played quality minutes for John Higgins and staff Sunday afternoon.

The road trip is short lived as the Greyhounds return back to play two games at Key Stadium next week, hosting Lindenwood Friday night at 7:30.
