INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball was back in Nicoson Hall Saturday afternoon looking to get back in the win column after falling to Lewis Thursday night. The Greyhounds were able to stave off a late fourth-quarter rally from Illinois Springfield to pull off the 67-63 win.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Â
The game did not start off how UIndy would have liked it to, UIS jumped out to a 9-0 lead before
Kristin Wodrich took her first timeout to regroup her team. The quarter belonged to the Hounds after that timeout, as UIndy went on a 14-4 run heading into the second period. The second period was tightly contested much like the first, the only difference being a
Mickey Sasson triple to give the Hounds a 27-26 lead going to the locker room.
Â
A hot shooting third quarter sparked the Greyhound offense while stifling the Prairie Star offense at the same time. The Hounds shot over 55% from the field including a made three-pointer from
Marissa Knobloch. After shooting 35% in the third quarter, UIS came out in the fourth to chip away at the Greyhound lead. Leading by as much as 13 with just over five minutes to go, UIS cut the UIndy lead to just two with 25 seconds to go. The free throw line was kind to UIndy Saturday, UIS could not catch a break by sending the Hounds to the line as they went on to win 67-63.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-
