NEW ORLEANS -Â For the second time this season, UIndy senior
Lauren Bailey was honored with the Division II Cross Country National Athlete of the Week award, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Tuesday. Bailey was also awarded the honor four weeks ago after winning the GLVC Triangular, and still remains as the only Greyhound to win the National Athlete of the Week award during the cross country season.
Bailey's accolades come from her performance at the GLVC Championships on Saturday, where she garnered a victory in the women's 6K race and set a new GLVC record as well. The final time of 20:23.5 broke the league mark by about two and a half seconds, while also leading the entire field, which included five All-Americans from last season, by over 27 seconds. In addition, she is just the second Greyhound to win the conference's individual title on the women's side and the first since 1988.
