INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's basketball team (3-3, 3-3 GLVC) took on Southern Indiana (5-1, 5-1) for the final game of 2020, taking down the Screaming Eagles to continue a three-game win streak on Sunday. The Greyhounds' defense held strong in the win, ending on a final score of 62-55.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite the shooting struggles for both teams, UIndy's start and finish provided some of the most crucial moments of the contest. The Hounds were patient in their shot selection to start, hitting 7 of 10 shots in the first quarter and 5 of 11 in the final quarter. Throughout the close contest, the Greyhounds led the way for a majority of the game, holding a lead for 71 percent of the contest. After reaching as far as an eight-point lead over the Screaming Eagles, USI would sneak ahead early in the third quarter, the first of 14 lead changes down the stretch.
The Greyhounds had three players in double figures in the contest, Taylor Drury being the team's leading scorer for the third-straight win with 18 points in the game. Drury's 4 of 8 shooting from deep now makes her 9 for 15 in the last two games. She also led all players with nine rebounds.
Mya Scheidt had a career night from the floor, dropping 14 points and three steals. Mickey Sasson added 10 points in the contest, hitting five free throws and dishing five assists.
