Paint Play Leads Greyhounds to Road Win

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Laura Thomas drilled a 3-pointer just before halftime on Saturday afternoon and the UIndy women's basketball team (15-5, 8-4 GLVC) never looked back in its 66-56 victory at Illinois Springfield (7-13, 2-10 GLVC).

The Greyhounds led by as many as 12 late in the fourth quarter, shooting 62.5 percent from the floor in the final 10 minutes to hold onto their third straight road win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy hit 11-of-21 attempts from the field in the opening half, but UIS forced 13 Greyhound turnovers to stay in the game. Paige Barrett hit her fourth bucket of the half to give the Greyhounds a 20-19 lead, before the Prairie Stars used a 5-0 run to claim the lead just before the break.

It was then when Thomas snuck a 3-ball just before the shot clock expired with 12 seconds left in the second quarter to give UIndy the lead for good.

Shira Sasson gave the Greyhounds a 12-point advantage at the 3:26 mark of the fourth frame, picking up a key offensive board off a Thomas miss from 3-point range. UIS cut the lead to six with under two minutes remaining, but free throws from Shira and Mickey Sasson, along with Thomas, sealed the road win.
