Greyhounds Make it Four Straight Wins

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UIndy women's basketball team took their three-game winning streak on the road to Missouri this weekend. Their first stop came in Kansas City for a Thursday night matchup against Rockhurst. Once they got the lead early on, UIndy never trailed the Hawks, holding on to an 88-82 win on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The 3-ball was kind to UIndy in the opening frame as the Hounds knocked down 3 of 4 attempts from beyond the arc and shot 60 percent overall through the early going. The Hounds continued to build on the lead in the second quarter, holding the Hawks to just 38 percent before the break to take a 41-30 advantage into the break.

Rockhurst used a 13-3 midway through the third to cut the Greyhound lead down to a single a point. But, like they had all night, the Hounds came back with a triple to boost their lead. The final stanza saw UIndy build their lead back up to double-digits to lead by as many as 11 in the frame. The Hounds were able to ice the game away at the line as they shot 18 free throws in the fourth period alone to hold on to the 88-82 road win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Once again this season, the Hounds had a pair of 20-point scorers in the win. Laura Thomas led the way in scoring Thursday night with 23 points while Emma Benoit finished with 20 points on an efficient 8-of-11 shooting.
- Shira Sasson continued her excellent play of late, as the junior from Israel finished with a career-high 17 points in the win.
- UIndy owned the glass against the Hawks, out-rebounding the hosts by 17 -- their biggest rebounding differential in a GLVC game this season.

UP NEXT
The Hounds will stay in Missouri for their next game, heading to Liberty, Mo., for a Saturday afternoon game against William Jewell at 2 p.m. ET.
