UIndy, Belobrajdic Lock Down Lake Erie

INDIANAPOLIS – The ninth-ranked UIndy men's lacrosse team (2-0) weathered the visiting Lake Erie Storm (0-2) on Saturday afternoon at Key Stadium, fending off constant pressure to win, 15-13.

Seniors Jack Belobrajdic and Jordan McKenzie dominated on the defensive end for the Greyhounds, combing for 14 ground balls and eight caused turnovers, while sophomore Drew Billig notched a game-high six points.

In the third quarter, senior FOGO Robbie Berardi recorded his 500th career faceoff win.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy fired off three goals in the first seven minutes, with Billig finding Ben Foster and Connor Eskridge to bookend the early run. After Foster made it 4-2 with his second goal, Lake Erie's Neil Gardner cut the deficit back to one heading into the second quarter.

The next 15 minutes was a high-scoring affair, with UIndy scoring six of the 11 total goals in the frame. As they did most of the day, the Storm made it 9-8, but this time it was Billig with the answer to give the Greyhounds a 10-8 halftime lead.

It looked as if the Greyhounds would run away with early in the fourth quarter with Kansai Garey and Eskridge making it 14-11, but Lake Erie tallied a pair of goals in 40 seconds to cut it back to one. As the Storm looked to finally tie the contest, Belobrajdic secured his third caused turnover to lead to Garey's third and final score to seal the win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Belobrajdic scooped up a career-high nine ground balls, while causing three turnovers. Meanwhile, McKenzie became the fifth Greyhound ever to record five caused turnovers, with only four single-game totals ahead of the Marquette transfer.
-Just as he did in his debut at Key Stadium a season ago, Billig chipped in for six points on Saturday, dishing out four assists.
-Garey and Parker Johnson each recorded a hat trick in the win, joining Eskridge and Brian Robb this season to tally three goals in a game
