Truman Too Much For Greyhounds Saturday Afternoon

INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team hosted Truman in Nicoson Hall as part of Pack the House and Senior Day Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs shut down the Greyhounds in the first half and held on to their big lead in the second half to take down the Hounds 69-53.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhound offense struggled to get going in the first period. After an Emma Benoit jumper gave the Hounds a 2-0 lead, the Hounds would miss their next 10 field goal attempts in the period, shooting nine percent from the field as they found themselves down 14-6 after the first 10 minutes. Truman led by as many as 19 in the first half, shooting 43 percent from the field before taking a 36-19 lead into halftime.

Truman pushed their lead up to 24 in the third quarter as UIndy continued to struggle on offense, missing each of their three-point attempts in the third period. The fourth quarter was much of the same for the Greyhound offense, shooting 21 percent from the field, but made 12 of their 14 free throws as they put up 18 points in the final frame before the final buzzer sounded.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-Laura Thomas led all scorers in the game, finishing with 21 points. It is the seventh time Thomas has amassed the 20 point mark in a game this season.
-The Greyhounds forced 19 Truman turnovers compared to their 15 giveaways. The 19 Bulldog turnovers led to 13 points for UIndy.
-UIndy shot 30 free throws in Saturday's game, making 23 of those attempts. Today's game was the fourth time the Greyhounds have shot 30 or more free throws in a game this season.
