SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – In the final weekend of regular competition before the 2020 GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championships, the UIndy track & field teams traveled to both Illinois and Ohio to compete in the EIU Friday Night Special and the STEEMER Showcase on Saturday.
EIU FRIDAY NIGHT SPECIAL
The Greyhounds' pole-vaulting crew made their way out west for the EIU Friday Night Special, and they had several student-athletes featured in the top eight.
Brittney Clark led the field for the women, just off her personal record height for a top mark of 3.95 meters.
Lauren Joseph made her way to the runner-up spot in the event, reaching up to 3.80 meters for second place overall in the event.
Treyton Arnold jumped into the top eight finishers of the men's event, finishing eighth overall on a final height of 4.45 meters.
STEEMER SHOWCASE
The UIndy track & field teams took victories in a handful of events between the two teams,
Katrinia Hopkins taking two of her own. Hopkins finished on top in the women's weight throw and shot put, reaching 18.05 meters in the weight throw and 13.85 meters in the shot put.
Taylor Strnad piled up another win for the women's team, claiming her win by jumping 1.64 meters.
Brian Sales claimed the only win for the men's side, sprinting a 48.71 400-meter time to win by .48 seconds.
The Greyhounds had several other finishes within the top three on both the track and in the field.
Keri Ertel excelled in another women's 60-meter hurdle final, crossing the line as the second-place finisher with a 8.74 time.
Isabel Bradley made her way near the top in the women's 400, reaching under a minute for a final time of 59.66 for second overall. The men's shot put featured
Brock King at third place overall, taking the honor with his 15.23-meter distance.
Mark Sciutto tossed his shot put 15.27 meters in the men's weight throw, leading the Greyhounds in the event at fifth overall.
Dallas Ford also placed seventh overall in the men's 60-meter hurdles final, finishing on a 8.84 final time.
UP NEXT
The UIndy track & field teams will have less than a week until the GLVC Championships, located close to home in the UIndy ARC. The two-day Championships will start on Saturday, Feb. 29 and end after Mar. 1's session on Sunday.
