Hounds Drop Close Road Match at Fourth-Ranked Mercyhurst

ERIE, Pa. – The No. 15-ranked UIndy men's lacrosse team (2-2) continued a tough road trip on Sunday by heading out east, facing off against the No. 4-ranked Mercyhurst Lakers. The Greyhounds maintained a lead up until the fourth quarter, losing the match on a final score of 10-9.

UIndy's lead was dwindled down with a 1:38 left on the clock, the Lakers limiting the Greyhounds' offense with no goals in the last 11 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy ran toe-to-toe with Mercyhurst out of the gate, until rattling off four unanswered goals to make the lead 6-4 with 6:09 left in the third quarter. The Greyhounds were involving their entire offense during that time, as seven different Greyhounds were involved with the four unanswered scoring plays.

After the Lakers cut down on to one, Kansai Garey and Matt Schoeneck both achieved unassisted goals to bring the lead back up to three goals to end the third quarter. After holding a 9-6 lead with 11 minutes left, four Lakers helped create a comeback-run that would seal the game in their favor.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Ben Foster added a pair of goals in Sunday's effort and has now scored five times in the past three contests.
- Garey now has seven goals within the last three games, including two hat tricks before Sunday.
- Junior Austin Barnett ended Sunday's match with 10 saves in two straight games as UIndy's keeper.

UP NEXT
