SPEEDWAY, Ind. – Behind a record-tying performance from newcomer
Keegan Bronnenberg, the UIndy men's golf team (284-284-285) earned its second win in as many events this fall, securing the win at its own Brickyard Invitational Monday and Tuesday. Bronnenberg carded a score of -11 over 54 holes, matching a program record and earning his first individual win as a Hound.
Â
Hosting a tournament at the Brickyard for the first time since 2015, the Greyhounds finished 11-under for the week after firing three consecutive rounds under par. They outpaced runner-up Findlay by 12 strokes and third-place Lee University by 16.
Â
Bronnenberg, a transfer from Ball State, hung three red numbers himself on the week. He fired rounds of 68-68-69 to top the 70-man field by three strokes, while his 11-under score tied the likes of Justin Hueber (2008),
Seth Fair (2008) and teammate
Erik Edwards (2019) for the lowest 54-hole score in UIndy history.
Â
Speaking of Edwards, both he and
Oliver Mast joined Bronnenberg on the all-tournament team. Mast (69-68-74) finished at -5 to take third place, while Edwards (69-76-70) was one-under to share fifth. All seven members of the all-tournament list finished under par.
Â
Additionally, both
Ian Carroll (T-34th) and
Jacob Nickell (T-48th) carded an even-par round of 72 to contribute to the team scoring.
Â
Meanwhile, seven other Hounds competed this week, including five on the UIndy "grey" team. Senior
Kyle Wensel (T-40th) topped the grey squad, while freshman
Bryce Robertson (T-48th) highlighted his second collegiate event with a second-round 72.
