QUINCY, Ill. – Alejandro Steinwascher blasted a game-winning goal in the 89th minute of action on Friday night to help give the No. 1-ranked University of Indianapolis men's soccer team a 2-1 road victory over Quincy in a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup. The win soars UIndy to 6-0-1 on the season with a 4-0-1 mark in GLVC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
For the second straight match, the Hounds found themselves behind to begin as Quincy netted a goal in the 18th minute to get things rolling on the scoreboard.
However, this lead was short lived for the Hawks as
Bryan Moreira added the equalizer after he collected a pass from Steinwascher and put the ball into the back of the net in the 23rd minute.
Makel Rasheed also earned an assist on the goal.
Neither team gave an inch after the Moreira goal, carrying a tie into halftime and eventually into the late part of the match before Steinwascher sent UIndy packing from Quincy with a win on a shot assisted from Moreira that fired past the goalkeeper. With this, Steinwascher now holds a team-high five goals to his name this season.

-Both teams collected four corner kicks and had one yellow card.
-A total of 20 fouls were called with UIndy notching a game-high 12.
HOUND BYTES
Head coach John Higgins' final thoughts on the match...
"Great win for us tonight. Really tough place to go on a Friday night and get results, so i'm absolutely delighted with that. I thought we had a good first half performance and then it got really really scrappy in the second half and I was really proud of our boys and how they battled and matched Quincy ... when you get a kid like Alex [Steinwascher] up top, you just need one chance and thankfully he was able to put it away for us."
