BOLIVAR, Mo. – The UIndy football team opened its conference slate with an eye-catching 77-10 victory at Southwest Baptist Saturday afternoon. In a game that featured a near 100-minute lightning delay in the early going, the Greyhounds (3-2, 1-0 GLVC) finished the afternoon with a stellar all-around performance on the way to the second-highest point total in program history.
INS & OUTS
Though the weather stoppage occurred after just two minutes of game time, the outcome already leaned heavily in UIndy's favor. The Hounds somehow squeezed in a kickoff return touchdown, a defensive sack and a 44-yard TD pass, earning a lightning-fast 14-0 lead prior to the delay.

Â
Things did not improve for the Bearcats after the teams returned to the field. The Hounds kept their foot on the gas, forcing multiple turnovers and tacking on a number of quick scores. The Greyhounds managed a school-record 42 points in the first quarter and when intermission finally came, the scoreboard read 56-3.
Â
Jeremiah Lee and
Toriano Clinton both had remarkable first halves. Lee – a true freshman – had a breakout performance, scoring not only his first collegiate touchdown, but his first four collegiate touchdowns. The Union, Ky., native found the end zone on each of his first four touches: a 95-yard kickoff return, followed by TD grabs of 44, 30 and 20 yards. Meanwhile, Clinton racked up a gaudy 197 rushing yards on just 10 carries, all in the first period, setting a new Division II record for a single quarter.
Â
Defensively, UIndy amassed 14 tackles for a loss, including five sacks, while forcing five fumbles and recovering three. Linebacker
Gavin Bane accounted for the game's lone interception, good for his second pick of the season. D-lineman
Aaron Barnett had a team-high 2.5 TFLs, while
Bryce Edwards led the way with 1.5 sacks.
Benjamin Hunnius was credited with two fumble recoveries and
Kasyus Kurns garnered two pass break-ups.
Â
Five Greyhounds finished with at least one rushing touchdown, including Clinton (1),
Kellen Porter (2),
JaQuan Buchanan (1),
Lenny Bennett (2) and
Bryce Stancombe (1).
Â
INSDIE THE BOX SCORE
- With the UIndy running game clicking, Stancombe finished with just nine pass attempts, going 6-for-9 for 140 yards and three TDs.
- Kicker
Paul Buisman's 11 PATs on the day broke his own GLVC record and were good for the highest recorded total in program history*.
- Lee's unofficial breakout game included 201 all-purpose yards to notch a team season high.
